Armenian round cross
Armenian round cross
The clay is shaped in a mold I created myself, from which a round cross emerges, to be refined and finished. After drying, it is fired in a kiln suitable for ceramic firing. Finally, it is treated with acrylic paints.
Its form draws inspiration from the blossoming and budding crosses in the miniature art or the cross stones called "khachkars" found in medieval Armenian art. In this case, the cross does not represent an instrument of punishment and death, but it is a symbol of life, new beginnings, and resurrection. The budding or blossoming cross is connected to the Tree of Life, a symbol present in many ancient cultures around the world.
This piece could adorn the walls of your home, or be hung outdoors in a sheltered spot, protected from the rain.
